In Stan Lai’s play A Dream Like a Dream, the Fall 2025 Theater Arts Production, a doctor invites a patient to tell their story. Dreams unfurl in this collaboration with MIT Theater students, community members, and a 360° stage/screen with the audience at its center/peripheries.

Directed by MIT Class of 1949 Professor Jay Scheib with video design by Anna Borou Yu, cameras, computers, and performers were choreographed into a fluid shot-for-shot sequence. The result was a shared performance of perception, attention, and care as patient and doctor made greater sense of their profoundly entangled lives.

Join us for an opening reception on Friday, November 13 from 3pm to 4:30pm in the Building W97 Gallery space at 345 Vassar Street in Cambridge, MA to celebrate the launch of this preview showcase.

The video installation and exhibit will continue to be displayed through December 11, 2026 and then from June 8 to June 17, 2027 at the Prague Quadrennial of Performance Design and Space (PQ), the largest international showcase of scenography, performance design, and theatrical space.
