Our Spaces

Building W97 at 345 Vassar Street is the home of the MIT Theater program.

Flexible performance facility provides a welcoming environment for students, faculty, and artists to convene, explore, and express. The adaptive reuse of this industrial building supports the many aspects of theater-making taught and practiced in MIT’s program. Conceived as a continuous studio, W97 includes a mix of thoughtfully designed classrooms, studios, and fabrication areas with a black box performance space as the heart of the building.

W97 expresses the idea of a continuous studio: a practice that flows between classroom instruction, innovative studio experimentation, and public performance across performance idioms including theater, dance, opera, and live art installation.

If you have questions regarding the use of the spaces within Building W97, please contact theater-request@mit.edu. Tours of the building may be available upon request.
